　　报告类题型 – 社会话题

　　Young people are leaving their homes from rural areas to study or work in the cities. What are the reasons? Do the advantages of this development outweigh its disadvantages?

　　题目大意：

　　青年离开农村老家去城市学习工作。原因?利弊?

　　思路：

　　题目问的是原因和利弊，可以从这个现象*相关的几个领域入手，青年自身，农村，城市。各自有什么理由，会受到什么影响。题目第二部分问的是利弊，都要提及。

　　审题，找出关键词：

　　Young people：青年的流动(原因，利弊，都要限定于这个群体)

　　studyor work：工作，学习(两方面都要提及)

　　village,cities：农村城市(原因和利弊，都要考虑到两者的对比)

　　advantages,disadvantages: 利弊都要提到

　　范文：

　　It has been long been aprevalent trend that the younger generation in villages is pouring into cities for study or work. While various hypotheses have been put forward in trying to explain the phenomenon, I would see this trend as a result of disparity between the rural and urban area, and I am not optimistic towards the ramification of the tendency.

　　Firstly, the flow of population is an issue to which I see the better educational resources in urban areas as an answer. It is true that most prestigious universities are located in cities, which plays as a magnet to attract young minds who are thirst for knowledge. Also, the metropolitan area is reckoned to have more job opportunitiesin the eyes of country boys and girls. The urbanization trend has boosted the demand for the workforce in diversified sectors, from cheap labour in manufacturing industries to higher educated talents in high tech businesses.

　　Some may argue that young immigrants from the country provide the needed workforce in manyindustries, while many of them who achieve higher degrees in universities contribute more to in fields like finance and IT. However, What I am concerned is the darkside of the gold rush. One problem we cannot afford to ignore is the village decay following the brain drain. With young people leaving for big cities, villages are inevitably faced with problems like ageing population and underdevelopment,which in turn exacerbates the disparity between two areas. Meanwhile, after decades of population input, the current situation in many cities is not as prosperous as before. The dramatic rise of young population has been exhausting the education resources in cities, resulting in intense competition in schools.The labour surplus also aggravates exploitation in many businesses, leading to long working hours and lower wages.

　　In conclusion, it looks to me that the emigration of youngsters from the country to the city is anirreversible trend. However, the lights in big cities are not as bright as theyused to be.
