一、对比反推
1.当文章介绍了两个对立的事或人，询证题极有可能要运用反推
我们来看一个例子(2017年12月亚太)
34 It can reasonably be inferred from the passage that the strategic use of black-and-white representation of products is
A) a subject of long-running debate among marketers.
B) an innovation that has had considerable commercial success.
C) a largely similar to their competition.
D) a technique not typically employed to sell products.
解析：原文对比了 black-and-white 与color 两种展现商品的方法，34题干关于使用black-and-white，35题正确答案C定位的句子“Markers may take it for granted that color is always the best presentation format for advertising.”是说市场营销人员想当然认为color永远是广告中展现商品的最好方式，反推出34题正确选项D： black-and-white 没有普遍运用于商品销售(反推信号词：选项有否定词not, no, little, few, without等)
2.询证题前一题题干关键词与原文提到事物成对比，则须用反推思维解题
我们来看一个例子(2018年5月北美)
45 Based on the passage, the authors would most likely say that conducting deep all-sky surveys to obtain information about ancient galaxies is
A) practical.
B) unnecessary.
C) justified.
D) incomplete.
解析：45题干关键词all-sky survey(全天区调查)与原文 “carefully selected samples of a small number of individuals”(样本分析法)形成对比，原文 “We chose the five target areas because they’re physically representative of the universe at large.” 说样本分析法很代表性，属正向态度，反推全天区调查法unnecessary
二、时间对比
一般考察现在与过去两个对比时间段，它们所具有的特征相反，当询证题前一题题干有表示过去的信号词used to, previously, in the past等，很有可能要反推解题。
我们来看一个例子(2016年12月亚太)
46 The passage suggests that Lyons would most likely characterize previous studies of BIFs as
A) dependent on weak methodology.
B) revolutionary in advancing geological theory.
C) completely disproven by later research.
D) provable with further experimentation.
解析：46题干问L 对previous studies 的态度，47题正确答案“We need to increasingly focus on doing just what these authors did a more careful characterization of samples. ”是说我们要更加仔细地进行样本描述，可以反推出previous studies 样本描述不太仔细，而样本描述在实验结构中归为方法，所以46题选A: 实验方法弱(反推信号词：比较级)
当然还有其他一些情况也要用反推，比如题干出现虚拟语气，或atypical, unlikely 等信号词。
